I haven’t always been a self-employed freelancer. 

Prior to graduating with a First at Middlesex University for a BA(Hons) in Visual Communication Design I got headhunted by BT and became a Graphic Designer there.

User Interface Designer with BT

Starting initially in an in-house design department working as a Web/Graphic Designer across all of BT’s lines of business then proceeding to be a Senior User Interface Designer (UI Designer) within BT Tradespace then a similar role with BT Conferencing building branded portals for multi-nationals. I was homeworking for BT from 2006-2012.

I also had the pleasure of bringing in to the business my photography skills and created online image libraries for diversity groups, in-house marketing material and The BT Phonebook. There is a lot to tell here, the amazing teams, people, awards etc. but it was 12 years of my life so I won’t go into it here; ask me if you wish to know more!

Digital Content Creator at Asda

After this I signed up with a recruitment agency while living in Leeds and was then employed at the Asda HQ as a Digital Content Creator. Initially this was only for 3 months but my contract kept rolling for 3.5 years so I must have been doing something right. For a time I designed and built the Asda Home landing page, the Electricals page and probably most other of the landing pages and eventually was doing the Asda Wine Web site until most of what I did got merged in to the Groceries site or Asda.com.

Software QA Engineer at EditShare

Not long after this myself and my family moved back to our home town of Perth and 6 months later I joined Editshare as a part-time self employed contractor working as a Software QA Engineer. Quality controlling their range of video asset management software, writing tickets and documentation on Redmine. Employing agile methodologies, working to Sprints and Testing on TestRail.
